Independence in Self-Care

Children love being independent and as parents we love seeing our children succeed in self-care tasks and the sense of achievement that it brings.

It can be very frustrating for children to struggle learning self-care skills that their friends seem to master with a lot more ease.

As an Occupational Therapist I can support your child in developing the following self-care skills:

  • Dressing and undressing
  • Managing fasteners, for instance zips and buttons
  • Tying their shoelaces
  • Using cutlery to feed themselves
  • Grooming
